M & E fitout for Community Hospital
Healthcare is becoming increasingly diverse with multiple suppliers from both the private and public sectors. Patients are just as likely to be treated for non-emergency procedures at a community health centre that offers everything from GP consultations through to inpatient care after minor operations.
In addition, an ageing population living independently demands that healthcare is provided at the heart of local communities, accessible to all with emergency services operating alongside consultancy.
Service Design Partnership are recognised as experts in healthcare consulting engineering design with experience in projects ranging from upgrades of public areas in existing NHS hospitals to the development of multi million-pound new builds.
Service Design Partnership was recently commissioned to design the Mechanical & Electrical (M&E design) fit for a new mini hospital in the Midlands for a private company.
It was essential that the new unit could offer high quality patient care and wellbeing, aid speedy recovery and enhance the clinical process.
Designed to broaden healthcare provision in this area of the Midlands, it would allow the expansion of existing provision relieving the burden on existing hospitals.
In addition to consulting rooms and a 24-bed ward accommodation there were plans for:
- MRI scanning
- x-ray
- CCSD sterilisation department
- 3 ND ultra clean
- Operating theatres
- Physiotherapy
SDP was recommended because of our experience and expertise in designing sustainable, cutting edge M&E fits that would work immediately and safeguard future developments in technology and the prospect of increased capacity for 20 years plus. We are also experts at delivering projects within budget and on tight timescales – critical in this case.
Service Design Partnership created a new primary mechanical and electrical services infrastructure which featured compliant HTM systems including:
- Compliant ventilation
- Compliant medical gases and
- IPS and UPS power systems
